During my Master's at ISAE-Supaéro, and in collaboration with the French space agency (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales, CNES), I developed a virtual-reality-based experiment to study the impact of microgravity on simple mental operations during collaboration between astronauts. My experiment flew on two parabolic flight campaigns operated by Novespace in Bordeaux. The results of the study were published recently in the journal Acta Astronautica.
The video below on the left-hand side shows one full parabola as seen from the rear window of the A310 Zero G Airbus used for the parabolic flight. The video in the middle shows a series of trials during the VR-based experiment conducted aboard the plane. The video on the right-hand side is taken inside the free-floating area of the plane during one parabola. |
